Cortana on W10M vs Google Assistant on Android

I recently migrated from W10M to Android. I am struggling with the lack of functionality from the OS assistant. For me, it really all comes down to what your requirements are. I am in IT and am always connected. I rely heavily on texts and alerts. When driving, in order to stay safe, I don't want to have to interact with the screen at all. I want to use voice commands for everything. Play this song or artist or playlist. Read my email. Incoming texts are read to me and I can reply to them. I can say call (name) and the call is made and so much more. All with keeping my eyes on the road at all times. This is what Cortana on W10M gave me. This is not what Cortana, Google Assistant, Bixby or any other app on Android does. Am I missing something? I've tried a boatload of 3rd party apps but none of them compare.

I love Cortana on W10M. One of the biggest reasons i still use my 928 & Icon.
Ive been told that Google Assistant is the closest to Cortana.
I know my post isnt any help, but i am hoping someone else will post for all of us W10M refugees.

I've never used Cortana, so I can't speak to a comparison. But, you should most definitely be able to use just your voice to send texts and emails.

For the car, have you looked at Android Auto? Also, is Google Assistant properly set up?

I have tried Android Auto and it doesnt handle texts very well. Neither does GA while driving. Right now I'm using Drivetime which is working ok, aside from the annoying voice.
