okay, just rooted and flashed gpa19 from rom manager. did a titanium backup of my apps/etc. phone loaded up just fine, reinstalled everything and it all looks good.

one question though...it seems like it's taking forever to sync back my google account(gmail/contacts only checked). is this usual or what's up? any answers would be sweet thanks :)

hmmmm. nevermind, lol. it just took a bit, but i got all my contacts and such synced up, guess I was just being impatient ;)

anyways, trying out gpa19(bugless beast) now. just using the stock kernel for the time being i think, i'll try a different one later if this gives problems or after i'm comfortable.

now, for battery tips...what should I set the governor on? it's on interactive baseline it looks like. i don't play any hd games on the phone, and mainly just internet/forum browse alot. tryin to get that battery to drag out as much as i can manage.

overall, i'm pretty satisfied with how easy this all was once i dove into it(i'm not scared of tech stuff...this is just a new door opened for me is all)

governor can be set to your likings.... Normally whatever the dev has setup for stock settings with his ROM is the best but your welcome to play around...

I normally run OnDemand for any kernel or Lazy if I'm running a new kernel with Deep Idle enabled....

Interesting.

Lazy with deep idle makes sense. Have you run ondemand with deep idle, since lazy was a spin off of ondemand anyway?

I'm running ondemand with deep idle, and I can't tell a difference between this and lazy with ondemand. I do recall getting more SODs with lazy, but that may be due to the fact that I have the min frequency set to 100 instead of 200.

And what about smartass? I'm of the opinion that this may be better than ondemand and interactive...but how does it run with deep idle? Can it?

My interest is piqued again. Will try lazy again...

p.s. found that ultimate online kitchen to get my battery mod on the status bar and some other things...neat.

i'm a fan of smartass v2...but lazy is good too.
i run deep idle also
I also found setting the min freq to about 400 instead of 100 makes things way more snappy from the phone waking up to a second or two after.
i'm probably taking a hit on battery there but it's worth it i think

This is after a full charge battery wipe with gpa19 plus the kernel it came with and governor on stock settings.

Gonna try tomorow at work with on demand and a 200/800 I think and see how it does.

Still way better than what I was used to on my stock epic lol. Ida had to charge twice in the same time

*edit* that's with 3 hours 44 mins screen on time.

I think that's pretty good for ~4 hours of screen on time.

I'm willing to bet if you install one of the most recent versions of matr1x, franco, or GLaDOS, you're battery life will probably be a little better.

But, it's hard to complain about 8+ hours of moderate to heavy use. That's why "they" make car chargers...:)

Ya.. I definately call that the higher end of my usual usage....and that was the first full charge + battstats wipe.

I do wanna try another rom or two just so I have some comparisons as I'm new to it all still. Thinkin of tryin carbon co2 next week.

After I find a rom I like ill mess with kernels to find what works for me. I do like the idea of these deep idle setups tho

flashed CO2 last night, gonna run it for a few days so i have a comparison. I already like it alot so far though. feels like it runs incredibly smooth and fast, and with stock settings(basically set the same way as gpa19bb was) my benchmark quadrant/atuntu are higher on this one.

plus, I like the blues that are used in this one haha.

Definitely a nice build. It gets just a hair less battery life than Oxygen, which averages 18 hours for me on heavy usage.

What settings for cpu? And thalamus kernel?

If you're asking me, I use the kernel provided in the ROM, and I use 200 min and 1000 max on conservative. But as Paul627g has said, it depends on your specific device hardware with respect to kernel/ROM playing nice together.

These are my settings in Oxygen, btw.

ya was askin you.the thalamus kernel is the one that comes with CO2. I'm set at 200/800 on demand. still only day one though, so not trusting battery life much anyways. so far it's doing well.

Yep, a couple days should do the trick. I think it took around two days for it to settle in.

A couple other things I do, which may be stating the obvious, is wifi whenever its available, display brightness turned down all the way, and turn off synch in apps that have it (fb, weatherbug, etc.)
