CPU speed for specific apps

Are there any CPU apps out there that can force the CPU to run at a different clock speed than a set profile? For a while I was using SetCPU, with a screen off profile of max clock speed set at 320, and min at 245. It worked fine and all, until I would listen to Pandora, or music with the stock music app. The screen would take a second or two to turn on, and when it did, it was extremely slow and non responsive, forcing me to pull the battery and reboot. I guess evening listening to music requires a lot out of these poor old Optimus's lol. So does anyone know of an app or way to bypass the clock speed limitation while listening to music, yet still be able to use a CPU profile when the phone is idle??

How do you get such great battery life? When using SetCPU, my batter would last about a day and a half with moderate use, but while clocked at max 825, min 245, My battery will go from full at around 8am, to around 15 to 25 percent around 12 at night. And yes, the reason I liked it underclocked while idle was to improve battery, but like I said, having music playing while underclocked with the screen off casued it to act up.

Maybe you have it overclocked to high?
The other day I used my phone for some texts, few rounds of solitaire, and that was it. From 7am to 7pm the phone used 10% battery.

I avoid battery hogs like facebook, set the weather app to update every 2 hrs, set hotmail to check every 1 hr.
i do know some apps drain battery like crazy. The hotmail app, if set to push update, it will drain the phone.
