Cracked Screen

I'm pretty sure that is the subsidized price.

Actually the subsidized price is cheaper...$99.99 for a brand new line and additional line on existing account or $129.99 for an upgrade. The other poster was correct...on the Costco website it does list the retail price for this phone as $279.99 for ATT and $249.99 for Sprint but that doesn't mean they are actually selling the phone outright for that price...if they were that would be the deal of the century.

Going forward I have insurance on all of our phones with the company suggested in this thread.

I never even thought about researching 3rd party insurance companies that provide coverage for cell phones and other electronics. I've always just gone with the carriers insurance or retailer's if it was a better deal. Right now I'm paying $11/month (up from $8 on my old BlackBerry) with Sprint and a $150 deductible (up from $100) which is pricey...plus you could end up getting a refurbished replacement phone. The only good thing is that they not only cover stolen phones but lost phones as well. Some of these other cheaper policies don't offer coverage for lost phones (I know there are ways around that but I prefer to do everything on the up-and-up).

So this Worth Ave Group is reputable and offers the best deal? I checked out their site and it looks like for about $120 you can get $599 worth of coverage for 2-yrs with a $50 deductible which is a much better deal than Sprint. I also have some time left to get insurance from the place I purchased the phone (newegg.com). They charge $7.50/month w/ $0 deductible and guarantee a brand new replacement phone. You can also place up to 3 claims per cycle...that is a decent deal too but they don't cover lost phones as well as some other situations. The coverage is provided by Mobile Device Protection Association, LLC in FL. Has anyone ever dealt with this company or know of them? I also like the fact that with Worth Ave you get a check instead of replacement phone...that way if you have to place a claim you can go out and buy the newest best phone out there instead of getting the same exact phone which could be a year or two old by the time you actually have to file a claim. Ya, I think I am going to insure my phone with this company as well...thanks for letting everyone know about it.

Worth Ave group was my second choice in phone insurance, as their rates were excellent and they had good reviews. Right before I purchased, I found out that one of my credit cards (Wells Fargo Platinum Visa) will insure my phone if I pay the monthly bill with the card. $25 deductible, no premium. Seemed like a no brainer for me.

Oh, and Worth Ave Grp has coupons.

Um.. I.. May have crapped myself.

It is the retail price..

*update*

It says it's retail but forces you to chose to upgrade or get a new line.. Basically.. If you don't have an upgrade you can't get it.

False alarm!

It seems that the retail price Costco has listed is meaningless because I just went through all of the steps on their website to purchase this phone and at this end the following message appears:

"Based on the information provided, it appears that you are not eligible for a handset upgrade through Wireless Advocates at this time. Wireless Advocates can only process upgrades for lines of service that have fulfilled 22 months of the 24 month carrier agreement."

So if you can't purchase the phone outright or for the full price on an upgrade it doesn't really matter what they list the retail price as except for sales tax depending on the state you live in.

Yeah it made me very sad when it wouldn't let me nab it. From checking around if you want to buy the phone full price your best option is from Sprint directly. It's about 600 (with activation) but everywhere else is from 650-900 o_O

I just cancelled the insurance I had with Sprint and went with Worth Ave. Pretty good deal:

- $599 worth of coverage for 2-years
- $50 deductible
- 15% off coupon (enter "15OFF" in the coupon code box on the billing screen)
- Total = $102.94 (including $5 Processing Fee)

I probably would have gone with the insurance from Newegg.com for $7.50/month but when I called to add it the price went up to $10/month because I didn't purchase it right away. Neither policy covers lost phones so it was a toss-up between being able to get up to 3 brand new replacement phones per cycle with the policy from Newegg.com or a check for the replacement cost of the phone with the policy from Worth Ave. I went with Worth Ave because I like the fact that you receive cash when you file a claim and can go out a buy whatever phone you want. Again, thanks to the OP for letting everyone know about this company.

With all the attention Worth Ave Group is getting through this forum - I'm sure a lot of us will be very interested to hear of the process. Please keep us updated if you have to file a claim, I pledge to do the same!
