i am still pretty new to all this & i keep going & pushing thru despite not knowing what i am doing. i have adhd so i dont always read things right & have a tendency to just impulsively do what something says to try. example: my apps have been disappearing from my droid x. i read on ur forum that it might have to do w/launcher pro, do download home switcher, uninstall launcher pro, reinstall it, & then use home switcher to set it as default.
problem: of late i have been getting this stupid little notice when i download that there is insufficient storage. i dont understand this since i dont have even half my memories (internal or sd card) full. i tried cleaning cache. anyways this all started recently (the insufficient storage). but the disappearing apps has been an ongoing battle which 1st started w/seeing those little blue screens of death (the default icons) appearing where i once had an app. i couldnt uninstall, couldnt download, & apps were nissing. i also couldnt unmount sd card. well, after a bunch of hacking around i found out my friend had an extra old smart phone with windows os, and an external sd card port (something i wish droid x had,,,pulling that battery is a pain), i used file explorer, found a file called "android secure", deleted it 9which i couldnt do on my phone), & all was back to normal. but it keeps coming up. i dont know what program creates it. and now this insufficient storage crap. oh well. and to think i want to try & root this thing. haha. its like giving me my old chemistry set from europe...they had things in there u never see in the usa kits. i made a smoke bomb in our hotel in the canary islands during r&r from nigeria. the maid came running in yelling at me in spanish as the smoke billowed out into the open foyer. i told her i couldnt understand a word..."no comprendez." she said "SI COMPRENDEZ!" of course i knew that she was mad at me...well, sorry for rambling on. where does crash test dummy come in u might ask? well, when i worked in an office for 14 yrs, i had this uncanny knack for pushing keys in ways they werent meant to, thus causing system crashes. so everytime they brought up a new system they would have me go at it & if it worked then it was safe to use. unfortunately the last one they had me try...they did a pretty good job and i couldnt get that one to drop. i blamed it all on the adhd. :D

Hey whooleeoh,

Welcome to AC!

Be sure to check out the Getting Started Tips and Tricks thread. There is a lot of great information here about Android in general that will help you keep from thrashing around.

Looks like you already found the Droid X forum. There are many great members there who can help you out with Droid X specific experience.

To me it sounds like you might want to try a factory reset. It's a pain but if you back up your contacts, SMS and sync your apps with Appbrain it can go more smoothly.

Hope this helps.

Have fun.
