crashing

okay so my S3 lately has started to crash it restarts itself constantly and sometimes freezes on the loading screen I constantly have to take the battery and restart it its been getting worse by shutting off on phone calls today alone ive had to factory reset it 3 times just for it to turn on properly also im trying to update my phone I just noticed I have 4.1.1 still but every time I press software updat I get a notice about my setting is no longer working I just needx advice on what to.do

If you turn the phone completely off and connect the charger, does it seem to charge ok?
Are you seeing any weird stats from the battery when the phone is turned on? (Just wondering if the battery is failing, which might cause your frequent crashing.)

Your best bet to load the latest firmware is to go here - select your device in the drop-down list in the upper left and download the 4.3 firmware (you'll have to unzip the contents). You'll also need a tool called Odin (just Google it - look for v3.07) - unzip the contents of that as well. You can look for instructions on how to use Odin online, or look in the stickies.
