I just recently moved from iPhone 7 plus mainly because of the battery life. Now I'm with S8+ and honestly the battery feels way worse. I see these people posting screenshots of their battery life and it all looks WAY different than what I see here. Guys, please, help me stay Android !! (The screenshot is in portuguese, but I'm sure you guys know what's what... Lol)

It's your signal. That'll drain the battery. I average 6-7hrs of SOT & 15 hrs off the charger. What i did was put all the apps on this phone in the sleep state under device maintenance & battery. I turned off location sharing. Under the location settings I turned off Wi-Fi & Bluetooth scanning. Nothing really special. I use my phone in high performance mode w the screen on the highest setting & keep my brightness around 45-50%

Sorry to tell you but all those battery life comparative tests are worthless. I've owned (in order) 6 plus, Note 5, 7 Plus, S8 Plus. The iPhone plus phones are significantly better with respect to battery. I knew that when I ditched the 7 Plus last week but was willing to make the trade off. I think the Androids are getting better but won't win a juice war with an tightly integrated closed system. On the other hand you have an open pallet design that lets you customize way beyond anything Apple offers.

seriously these Cellphone Companies should invest more on Batteries. Batteries that could last 24 hours of Screen on Time and not just meeeehhh 4-6 hours SOT.

Battery life is always the main bottleneck on all these phones. So even if they put 4000mah on the next S9 i doubt i could last us 10-12 hours of Heavy Usage.

That entirely depends on the person you know. These batteries already lasts more than 4hrs SOT and 24hrs SOT depending on use. My mom gets 2-3 days on her phone with 3-4hrs SOT.

And they are investing in batteries. But design takes a priority nowadays. So the battery has to fit in the design, not the design to fit the battery.

Yeah standby time is already good..what i mean is
While you are watching 4k videos on youtube, doing video call, using 4g LTE always on. Browsing internet all that and enabling all features on the phone. And still you get 24 hours non stop display. Cause nowadays if you do all that i doubt all phones could reach 4 hours sot.

they always highlight their new features which not all people use them. Like example of 1 million people bought Galaxy S8 only 300k of those use all those new features. And while 700k people only use half of those features and still suffer from poor battery life. Just by doing skype for 4 hours battery could already be dead.

I can play War Robots straight for 6hrs on the S7E (it registers as 15% an hour) on 4G (online shooter). Although resolution is set to FHD because full reso makes the controls too small for my fat fingers to hit accurately.

Still on the fence if I should upgrade to S8 or Note8. That's why I'm lurking. Lol.

Yes, because people need to look at their phones 24 hours straight!

I think he meant a phone that COULD work for 24 hours straight with the screen on meaning after a full 12 hour day you'd still have at least 50%

if he meant he wants the phone screen on 24 hours straight thats just weird ahaha

This is one of my main beefs with android and IMO Samsung due to all the extra features are one of the worst. The comparison with iOS and the plus iPhones is never more obvious than when comparing standby times.

Also it is not easy to track the culprits as proper granular battery stats are just not possible, even if you use gsam and enable more stats most stuff still hides in android system etc, plus tracking resets when you plug in so tracking over time is also not possible.

I did get my S8+ to a pretty Level through a combination or package Disabler pro and the adb command to ignore background processes but it is proving a hassle as app updates seem to undo it. Tbh I am tired of having to do it. Out of the box the LG G6 is the best android battery life I have seen.

Stupefying battery life on v30+.

If all of the v30 models are like this then it means no longer needing to babysit your battery. And old wireless charging pads can be useful again because all you will need is a little top up.

There's things I miss about Samsung, but having to go to settings and boost device Maintenance 20 times a day, I now see was ridiculous.

With the v30 I don't even need to glance at the battery to know I'll make it through a 12 hour work day of light use with heavy use on break times and still get home with battery around 70%.
