im still irritated by the name ThunderBolt. Makes no sense. What makes them think they can just put two cool names together and make a word. What's next? RamRod? Oh wait...

It's a regional thing, one of the local Chicago weathermen used the term "thunderbolt" during a forecast the other day.

"Thunderbolt" is also referenced in the Queen song, "Bohemian Rhapsody".

I'm just saying, HTC didn't make the word up out of thin air.
 
Verizon owns the Thunderbolt trademark. You can't sue them if it's official.
Intel's trademarked it as well. It was likely confidential, hence the reason why no one can find it. (I'm looking at the trademark info on my MBP box as I type this)

I don't think anyone's going to sue anybody. They'd have to argue there's a likelihood of the consumer being confused, which would be a very hard argument to make. No one's going to be confusing a cell phone with a data transmission port/system.
