I'm looking for a free or low cost cross platform messenger app( Android and iOS) that is reliable, uses encryption, and also has the ability to receive messages on multiple devices at once. For example, I'm looking for a app that I can be signed into from my phone(OV) and my tablet(A100), and when someone sends me a message receive that message on both devices and have the ability to respond from either device. I do not want to use Facebook or G+. Any suggestions?

i use gibberbot, but that app is android only... it uses google talk and otr encryption, so it works with other chat clients like the desktop app pidgin.

I think I found one, testing IMO messenger now. Thanks for the input.

I use trillian, I know it's a paid app, can't remember how much though.

I use imo. Though I don't know about its encryption. It does work well for my needs.. it does Skype! No other seems to be able to. So glad imo does (Skype app is horrid!)

I'm going to check out Igotchat. IMO worked well, but didn't have message receipts, a feature I'm used to coming from Live Profile. Currently using Kik, but the individual messages don't have time stamps.
