curiousity on unlocking my cricket phone

I'm kinda curious on how I would go about doing all this.. I am running a Samsung amp prime with cricket service and am able to get the unlock code.. Would I still be able to run cricket service on my amp again without it locking back to cricket? If it's going to be fully unlocked, what are my next steps after getting the code if I plan to use their service still? I'm new to this and have heard that it is totally worth it to unlock a phone, so I'm just getting all the info I need beforehand. Also am wondering on if it's unlocked if id be able to use the hotspot feature on my phone or would I still need to pay the extra for it? Sorry for all the questions, lol. Thank you in advance for any tips and advice you are able to provide!

Once it is unlocked you are good to go to use it with another GSM carrier like T-Mobile. If you decided to go back to Cricket Wireless you would not have to lock the phone back, you would just stick your SIM in and you are good to go. In order to unlock the phone you need to put in another carriers SIM card like T-Mobile and then it will ask you for the unlock code. Once you put it in the phone will be permanently unlocked and you are free to do whatever you want.

Once you obtain the unlock code (probably 8 digits) from Cricket, the following steps are typical for unlocking the phone:
1. Power off the phone, remove the battery (if possible), and insert a non-Cricket SIM card (SIM card need not be active).
2. Re-insert the battery and power on the device with the non-Cricket SIM.
3. The device displays "Enter the device unlock code."
4. Enter the eight-digit unlock code.
5. Press OK.
6. Should now see something like this displayed on your screen: "Network Unlock Successful"
7. Once it's unlocked, power down the phone and put the Cricket SIM back in. Then power on. Also check the APN settings and confirm all is correct for Cricket. If you change any APN settings you'll need to restart the phone.
