So I'm basically just looking for some input/opinions. The Photon comes out July 31st, then there's the Evo 3D and Nexus S that I'm also interested in.. And then next month The Samsung Within might be released.. Not sure what to do! I am leaning more towards the photon, just because I haven't had a Motorola android phone yet (previous OG Evo owner).. and its pretty darn sexy 8)

epic 2! i still prefer the physical keyboard over swype or swift key on screen.
The thing with the epic 2 though, is that it lags behind in terms of hardware with everything else (minus the nexus.. but it's stock android so that more than makes up for it :p). And with the new swift key X, i find myself using less of my keyboard each day..

I'm going with the photon. I'm not an htc fan at all. I am sick of putting up with Samsungs long @ss wait to release updates or dates of when their phones will drop. I'm also tired of the ****ty radio Samsung uses. Hoping Motorola will solve my issues. I think they build all around solid phones

I'm kind of on the same boat with you. But Motorola hasn't been perfect either (recalling bionic, LOTS of problems when atrix was released) so I'm not completely sold on it.. although I will agree with you that Samsung isn't the best of quality. I've had 3 Epic's and they all overheat fairly easily.

epic 4g was my very first android phone, coming from a palm pre. I know nothing else but samsung. At the same time little annoyed with the same issues. Updates and etc. the photon does have my interest even tho I might be waiting for a sprint version of the Nexus 4g. That phone could be king

I'm in the same situation. I will either buy the Photon or keep my epic for a while longer. I like the epic in general, and I'm not sure there enough new features in tue photon for me to switch. I have several spare batteries and slot chargers for my epic. I'm not sure I want to start over with accessories with a new phone with the epic being adequate.

In the same boat, ready to drop the physical keyboard, the top phones just don't have them. Prob going with the EVO 3D over the photon, the GS2 would have to blow me away to go Samsung again.

Care to share your thoughts on why I (or any of us) should get the Evo 3D over the Photon? Just looking to see if you know about some pros/cons between them that I don't :p

If I bought a new phone I would get photon. Because it has everything I want and like but a keyboard. I love my epic since the firts day I got it. 09/01/2001. I will keep this phone for a while. I will get another phone when these new phones get cheaper.

I am getting the Photon. Spec wise, Nvidia Tegra processor, DDR Ram, 16 gigs internal storage, plus external storage, HDMI, World phone, Kick stand, etc...I hate Sense, will have to check out MotoBlur.

I have an upgrade on my Epic line, I will put the Photon on the Epic line, I will retire my Touch Pro 2 and move the Epic to that line and keep the Evo 4g on it's line a while longer......

I think I'm starting to lean more toward the Photon.. Each day it gets sexier and sexier 8). And also the thought of having a phone with a Dual NVIDIA Tegra processor intrigues me..

Even though you were asking the original poster, I thought I would answer from my personal experience. Both my kids have the EVO 3d and it is a sweet device. It is silky smooth and the 3d feature is not a gimmick when it comes to photography and viewing photos (obviously gaming also). I also like the HTC version of Swype called "Trace". HTC has an excellent track record supporting their flagship phones with updates. I eventually will need a world phone and that is the main reason for me to get a Photon. Having just completed 3 months of world travel, I will not need to make a decision for quite a while. The laptop dock is not a feature I will use, but I can see how that would be a valuable feature to some. Also some of the corporate email security features may be a huge factor for those that have not been able to get an Android due to their IT dept. policies. If I did not need a world phone, the EVO 3D would be an excellent choice and I would have already pulled the trigger.

Thanks for the input! I completely forgot about the laptop dock feature, which I think i would take advantage of. And as much as HTC is a solid company (loved my OG Evo) I think I'm going to go with motorola this time to switch it up ;). Also I'm surprised no one is sticking up for the nexus s... I thought it was very popular!

To the OP, why do you wat too get rid of your Epic? Seems like an awesome phone to me that will continue to be relevant after the Gingerbread update.

Don't get me wrong I like my Epic.. But I like to take full advantage of being able to upgrade my phone once a year.

All I can say about Motorola is "Q9C"... What a piece of junk trying to be Blackberry like. I have so many things that go wrong with the Epic since the Froyo upgrade that it's its easily a tie with the Q9C although web browsing is very nice on the Epic. Normal phone functions are where it dies. (Since Froyo)

G..

You're right it is trying to be BB like, but it has one thing BB doesn't that makes it 10x better... Android!

The thing with the epic 2 is that its still a Samsung phone.
