Current Epic owner with an upgrade.. Help!

Don't get me wrong I like my Epic.. But I like to take full advantage of being able to upgrade my phone once a year.

I can upgrade my phone every year. Nervertheless, I won't get the photon for one reason. The photon is locked. It can not be rooted. I like to play with my phone. Get rid of the crap that Sprint put in their phone is one of them. I can not do it in the photon. Also, I heard this phone is not that fast. Do not get me wrong it looks and sound like a great winner but is not for me.

Nice comparison, but I'd find it more helpful if it said which phones:
* have physical keyboards (and at what orientation)
* can be used as world phones

Those both weigh far more heavily in my decision-making than whether it has a 3D display.

I'd also like to know which phones are hacker-friendly, but perhaps that's too subjective to put in a chart? But I gather that the Nexus and the Pres are, and the Motorolas and Apple phones aren't.

My personal opinion is to wait unless you have an actual need to upgrade. I've seen some moderately interesting choices, but only moderately interesting. The Epic still compares very favorably to the current crop of phones available.

I'm interested to see how the dual/quad-core phones play out, as well as the 3d cameras, and I require a hardware keyboard, so I guess I'll be looking at an upgrade when there is a quad-core, 3d, hardware keyboard, AMOLED screen phone available on Sprint.

Agreed. Who knows what nifty thing is coming out. Why blow your upgrade when you are perfectly happy with your current phone.

I agree with you 100%.

I believe Motorola phones and Apples phones are the only phones that have their phones locked. I heard some HTC phones are locked as well.:-!

i would wait and for the Samsung GS2 to be released for sprint. i have a feeling it's going to make everything else available seem like junk. so thin and sleek. also, very hacker friendly and that screen, wowser! :D

As much as I do think the S2 is an amazing phone... It's still a samsung, and quite frankly they're build quality, IMO, is not the greatest. (quality of material used on Evo and Epic is night and day)

I will never get another Samsung phone. The hardware is nice, the company support is horrible.

To each thier own... I personally have had a good exerience with Sammy. I have not needed their support. I say if you want to get the Photon test it out for yourself and return it if its not what you want.
You can wait for the next great phone but when Quadcore comes out Thier will be talk of 6core phone right around the corner. If you loved your Epic and would want the same experience the wait for the GSII. If you didnt like Touchwiz Then test out Blur It might be the perfect fit for you. This is why i Love Sprint I can get a new phone every year even if i dont need it lol. The more you wait the more you will see newer phones coming soon and then you will be waiting forever and extending your next upgrade even more. I was a June upgrader and i waited till the Epic came out and now i have to wait till August 1 to upgrade.... Enjoy your next phone ... which ever one you choose...
