Current Pixel 2 thinking about the Xl

As others have said, try the XL, see if you like the device/size and then make a decision.

I went with the XL, but this year, if the standard Pixel 3 is larger than 5", I'll probably get that.

I think 5.5" is my ideal screen size.

I agree - my LG G3 was 5.5" and it was the perfect size for me. My Honor 8 is 5.2" which is also great - and the Pixel 2, when I get it, will be a little smaller at 5" (though you can't really tell when you line up the Honor 8 with the Pixel 2). I definitely wouldn't mind a 5.5"-inch regular Pixel 3. It would even be cool if Google did small (5"), medium (5.5"), and large (6")... Is that too much to ask? Probably. 🤣

I have had the same predicament, but ultimately, I really love my Kinda Blue Pixel 2.
It's nice to be able to use a phone one handed and not have a trade off by plumping for the smaller deice for a change. Cough, Apple.

Except for the obvious larger screen haha.
I am going to stick with my 2 for a little longer as I personally prefer the feel in hand and also the screen is likely going to be better than what I find in an XL.

Also, dat blue. :D

Yes, the Kinda Blue variant is amazing!

So got my second XL and the screen is better but still very disappointing for 1K it's got to be better than average so as much as I was enjoying the Google experience along with other issues Blue Tooth and Wi-Fi dropping I'm jumping ship and picking up One Plus 5T maybe try again for the Pixel 3

I'm sorry you were unsatisfied with the Pixel 2 XL! I've done a lot of research on the OnePlus 5T: the screen quality is excellent and it really is a solid device. Let us know when you get it!

Just received my XL and the blue tint is unacceptable, unfortunately it's going back.

I originally pre-ordered a XL 2 and once I saw it at Verizon on display I immediately cancelled the preorder due to the blue shift and the massive size of the phone. I got an iPhone X and for the life of me remained intrigued by the pixel 2XL. So I got one, lasted about 3 hours on it before getting rid of it. The blue shift was just horrific and the phone was too big for me, not comfy in the hand at all coming from the iPhone X. So I went back to my X and last week I decided to try out the regular pixel 2. Yeah the bezels are there, but I am digging being back on 16:9 aspect ratio! I hated the 18:9 and half of it is unused on the X at times. The pixel 2 is so lightweight and comfy in the hand it's quite impressive. I have no complaints so far but haven't really used the phone long enough yet.

This was my biggest reason for unloading $1,000 on the iPhone X was because of the size. They finally came out with something in between the 4.7 and plus model! I hated the notch, hated face ID, hated no battery percentage...list goes on. I got the kinda blue pixel 2 as well and kinda obsessed with the color!

Yup, that colour is super nice. Kind of a minty, green-like blue. Does it change colour at all depending on the light? I know it's not a glass back or anything - but I'm still curious!

No it doesn't change it is that same awesome color all the time haha

Yeah, i've been torn between my X and my Pixel 2 for a while now, but I am going to stick with the Pixel.
I am still unsure which device to go for - whether to buy an XL or stick with the regular blue.

I do prefer the software experience that the Pixel 2 gives me, and I have used big devices before (7 Plus, XZ Premium and Priv) so I can use big devices without issues. But now having used an Essential phone for a short time, then an X and now a reg Pixel 2, I am struggling to go back to a bigger phone. It's so nice using a phone one handed and not having a trade off by opting for the smaller device.

Such a tricky decision haha.

You're also going to deal with a screen that is worse than what you have now. The blue shift is horrible, I couldn't even use the phone it was so bothersome. I still can't believe Google put out that phone with that screen quality.

Yeah, the blue shift is pretty bad.
It doesn't bother me too much though, but it still shouldn't be that bad. Although I know some of the newer ones are seemingly not as bad - but it isn't really a lottery I want to part take in. If I got a dud one, I think I'd struggle returning it as I am unable to return a device here in the UK unless it is faulty, and I don't think they will class blue shift as a fault.

This isn't from google direct FYI. It's Currys.

People carry on about blue shift. Doesn't bother me. Yeah some are worse than others but you can still see the screen with the shift. It's just tinted. Most of the time you only ever glance at a screen at an angle. We've been spoilt by Samsung screens I guess. Even though they're not perfect either.
