Remind me -- did Google at one point say that the Pixel 4 & 5 would lose unlimited backups after June 2021? I could've sworn they did, but then when I was recently searching about it, I found this Google blog article from Nov 2020 saying that Pixels 1-5 would keep whatever unlimited plan they had forever: https://blog.google/products/photos/storage-changes/

I think the loss is for "original quality" not "high quality" which is less quality (compressed) than...oh you get the point.
So I'm not sure exactly what changed, if anything, from Google's announcement from a few months ago that triggered the article I referenced.
Below is from Google Photos.

I think "high quality" was always going to be unlimited after June 1st, not "Original Quality", which is what prompted me to buy additional storage when it was first announced whatever months ago.

Gotcha, on the phone I don't see a difference, is it when you try blow them up as picture you see the difference?

Right, there will be some loss in detail. That loss probably not noticable on phones or social media, maybe more suitable for social media where as original quality would be rejected as too big a file size.
