On my Verizon S4, do I have to keep the stock kernel? It seems that to root, I had to install a pre-release kernel, but all of the sites say to reflash the stock kernel. I had Franco kernel on my
G-Nex and loved tinkering with it. Can I flash a custom kernel to my new phone or is it preferred that I remain with the stock?
Thanks for any insight!

I think you can so long as the kernel is compatible with your OS version.
