Custom Launcher

Anyone going to be putting a custom launcher on their new S5 like Nova or Apex? Just curios to what others are using and why one launcher over another. I currently use Nova on my N5 and was thinking of using it on my new S5

I think I'm going to change mine.... Thinking of the GPe launcher. I used go launcher way back, and I think I tried nova before as well. I think when I get bored over spring break, I will try out some different ones, and maybe mess with the lock screen too.

I have ADW and Next launchers I'll probably try them out on the S5 eventually . I'm Coming from a Razr Maxx so I have no idea what this phone will be like . Looking forward to the change . I've had a moto phone of some sort for the past 4 years .

I've never messed with 3rd party launchers, but which of them will allow you to save your home screens & all shortcuts/positions/widgets? I've always found the worst part of re-doing a phone was having to rebuild the home screen the way you had it before.

Nova lets you backup and restore.

Nova allows to you move everything from your previous HS to Nova
I'm sure Apex does it as well

Just curious, I use Nova on my Droid Mini but I'm switching to an S5 - in the past I've always hated TouchWiz,and unless it has some new features I doubt I'd stick with it being stock (specifically I love the ability to swipe right and left to have additional docks, especially with a larger phone I think using it one handed will be easier with that option).

Anyway, I know theres no way to disable TouchWiz, but when you use a launcher like Nova do you lose or gain anything as far as performance? Is TW essentially running in the background and then Nova on top of it, or does Nova sorta minimize whatever processing power TW would be taking up?

Nova is a must for me. It's the first app I download!

First turn off all animations in the developer settings menu. Then download Nova Launcher and your phone will be fast. Apex is slower in my opinion. Enjoy

+1 to turnning off animation in developer setting. I do this on every android phone and it's feels like turbo charging your phone.

Apex at default is a little slower than Nova. But you can adjust animation speed on it and it's just as fast. But I'm bored with both of them and trying Holo HD and KK launcher. they are very light and speedy with clean look.

I turn off all 3 of them. Window, transition, and animator duration scale.

TY will try that and see if it is any faster. Using
Everything Me launcher and quite enjoying it so far.
