Custom people edge colors

Hey everyone! One of the things I loved about the note 7 was the custom edge colors for people when the phone was faced down. For example, wife calls when the phone is face down and the edges lit up pink.

I have not seen any reviews or anyone talking about this. My apologies if this has already been talked about or already announced but does anyone know if the note 8 has this feature?

Probably not. It was removed on the Galaxy S8. I can't say for sure if it's been added back or not. I personally don't think it will be a feature anymore.

I liked this on the note 7 as well. Hopefully it will return.

it should be on the N8. On the N7 it was in a different location in settings menu then in the S7 and some thought it wasn't there when it was. With the replacement N7's it was moved again in the settings menu, but was there. It's a simple feature and I'm sure it's there.

Wife just got home and I looked on her S8....edge lighting is there. Funny has many options for using it-text and many other apps, but not for phone calls. Also, didn't allow to set specific color for individuals who text. But, it is there. settings-edge screen-edge lighting

I have the S7E as my N7 replacement. it was here, and a couple months agi, there was am update to the People Edge app, that eliminated the custom people edge colors and shortcuts. there used to be stickers too. the People Edge app also had a feature that would search your contacts list for other Edge specific users on your contact list l you knew who you could use the People Edge app with.

The post above yours shows the Note 8 owners manual and it has the feature the OP was asking for. So I guess the Note 8 kept that feature.

Cant please everyone. Some people just like to complain or make comments to get people going. I see the Note 8 as a advancement. A slight advancement but still a advancement.

Actually, texts are purple and calls are green. I found this out by mistake a little while ago! I see no setting to customize the colors, but the edges have 2 different colors that I've seen.

I see that. That's the N8 manual right? I'm using S8 and the advanced option to customize the colors isn't there in S8. So the colors are there, at least the 2 that I've seen, but they aren't customizable.

I'm allowed which apps get an edge notification, but I can't customize a color. The 3 dots open to a "quick reply" option. I only mentioned what the S8 has because a previous poster was talking about the option on his wife's S8.

From the Manuel, it looks like Edge lighting will go back to how it was on the N8.

the actual "People Edge" app from the Galaxy store had it's own setting for 5 most common users. It integrated with the sms and calls on the device. the version of the App itself is what was downgraded across all edge devices, according to the notification I got a few months ago. So while the Edge feature has it's own options, it was the app itself that had the custom options. the app is no longer functional as it once was.

The feature was called OnCircle. Samsung introduced it on the S6 Edge and shut it down back in December.
