Question Custom Recovery Key Combo possible?

Would it be possible to set the custom key to enter android recovery? My project/android device manufcture disable this (unbranded device that's restricted).

On a personal note I don't think its possible, but I'm asking for clarification.

I believe you need to reboot to your recovery immediately after flashing it, else it gets overwritten. Can you post a link to the tutorial you're following ?
