My phone is the Lg Optimus S. I'm stuck in a custom recovery loop after I tried factory resetting my phone. I've read plenty of forums talking about using SDK and AVD to flash Xionia onto my phone. Only problem is, AVD manager doesn't find my phone and I have no idea how to flash anything to my phone let alone while I can't actually start the thing up. When I run ADB it just shows Command Prompt, a bunch of text, then closes.

Please help me. Walk me through what I'm doing wrong please. It's killing me to know I broke something as sophisticated as a smart phone but I'm not sophisticated enough to fix it.

Please and thank you.

So you tried factory data reset from inside a rom with a custom recovery?

What rom did you have?
What recovery?

Have you tried to get into recovery manually?

To open adb, open start, in the search bar type cmd.exe and open that. Type adb shell ( with phone plugged in of course)

What recovery did you have before? Please tell me you did not use Rom Manager?

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did

Just open up an ADB Shell prompt

Open Terminal.. All Programs > Accessories > Terminal..

type adb devices to be sure its there...

find the .img file you want to set as your recovery image and push it to the SD CARD as recovery.img
by doing this command - adb push (drag and drop the .img recovery file on your computer to here) /sdcard/recovery.img

then do..

adb shell
su
su again to be sure
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

I recommend Xionia... That'll fix a recovery boot loop..

this wont work if he doesnt have flash_mage in the right place, or have the permissions correct. it will just error out and say cannot find flash_image.

he needs to provide more information so we can help him properly.

I have the stock ROM on there with Rom Managers Clockwork Recovery. I did use ROM Manger unfortunately. I have tried using a backup of my system when I'm stuck in the recovery but after the system restore it remained in a boot loop.

What other information should I provide?

None. Unfortunately, ROM manager turns this phone into a brick. permabrick. It may be a lost cause. You can head over to the ROM manager brick thread in the stickies, there are a few ideas there that MIGHT help.

Do you have insurance? Drop it in the water for awhile and pay the $50 for a new one.

Try this thread maybehttp://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/59781-un-brick-method-some-forms-brick.html

I went to the linked thread and the utility tool link is to MegaUpload which was shut down. I'll definitely check out the sticky forums.

Now when I try opening SDK I get a "Failed to execute tools/android.bat: The system cannot find the file specified.":'(

Ask for a new link..

Yeah.. If you flashed ROMManager's Image of ClockWorkMod, it has to be a brick..
