your not trying to flash the .zip in your current recovery are you? I'm not one to talk because i can never get recoveries to flash right away but make sure that after you download it you extract it then take the file out of the folder that it is in and then put it on your sd card

I've fallen into the lg-style format loop hell, sadly. I know about spamming "adb shell flash_image misc /dev/zero;adb shell flash_image persist /dev/zero" once the device is recognized. I do that, but the time I have to successfully get a command in is very small. Once the recovery menu is booted into, practically less than a second afterward, it reboots, staying on the LG screen for 30 seconds or more. Regardless of how quickly I seem to spam the command, none of them ever seem to go through.

I even attempted making a bash file to spam it thousands of times, but again, none of them ever go through successfully. LGNPST and LGMobile successfully recognize the device during that 1 second of recovery menu, but it's too small an interval to successfully force a flash.

So, does anyone have any tips in regards to this. I should have just never tried the option to begin with. I only realized my custom ROM was CM7 derived once it was too late. Hope someone can provide assistance. Thanks in advance.

try putting it in e-mode, then pulling the battery without pluggging it into the pc.

if that doesnt work then you are gonna have to go back to e-mode coz yur gonna have to reflash with the lg updater

Since you sound like you are out of options, I'll just throw out a far-fetched suggestion.

See if pressing various buttons can slow down the boot enough for your script to get the commands through. Even it slows down the reboot slightly, maybe it is enough time. Try holding down the vol- button, maybe you can overload some buffer and keep the app busy long enough to get your commands in.

Have no idea if that will work, just trying to give you something to try.

guys with the /sd-ext problem, any idea what it might be? do I have a /dev path wrong?

I keep getting "error opening /sdcard/xionia_cwma_1258.1.img: No such file or directory" any quick help...

Ive tried renaming it and a couple other stuff like that with no luck..

I forgot to Nand first and then lost about 50mb of internal storage on boot. I guess that's what I get for not following directions.

Is there any harm to install this custom recovery on my wife's phone? She has stock recovery and update VD ROM through LG update tool. Can I flash this recovery through term emulator on her phone and then flash a VC ROM through installzipfromcard through the recovery so that I can root her phone simply wth z4root?

You need root to install a custom recovery.

For most custom ROMs they include root automatically so no need to run z4root.

When I use the backup feature in CWMA does it back up what's on the phone's internal memory so I can restore an exact copy to my phone? Or does it just back up the SD card's contents?

It backs up the majority of what is in internal memory (boot, cache, data, system, and android_secure), not the SD card contents, unless part of Android is stored on the SD, such as cache or android_secure.

Not sure I am following, but you need to be rooted to install a custom recovery. VC/VD are unrootable. You have to revert to V9 to initially root. You can maintain your root, with a custom recovery and installing a rooted rom like ThundeROM.

1. Force flash back to V9.
2. Z4Root
3. Install CWM recovery
4. Update to VD.
5. Flash TundeROM 1.8

in a nutshell........

It backs up boot(kernel+initrd), cache, data, system, restore.

It restores boot(kernel+initrd), cache, data, system.

It does not backup up NVRAM (data provisioning, PRL, etc.)

Hi guys here is .5 before I go :P I owe this much to you all :)

Vacation? Hiatus? Not leaving are you?

I just noticed, maybe this is only on .5 - if gives a message on the bottom of the screen when you reboot from recovery:

Warning: Not flashing RADIO image (something like that)

Is that intentional or something preventing OTA updates?

ok so im trying to flash the new .5 an /sdcard/flash-img: no such file something like that can someone help me thanks
