If it says CWMA v1.2518.6 at the top, then you are set. choose reboot system to get back to your ROM/phone

changing the recovery shouldn't affect any of the system files or data that you previously had. Should look exactly the same except for the recovery itself.

OK Thanks......So I can use this connect bot for future roots flashes etc.? If so Is there a way to link a hardwired keyboard to this phone/app?(If there's even one available)

I would say its safe for something like recoveries. I'm not sure that it would work for root, because I think there's a reboot in the root process? (don't quite remember). and as for the hardwired keyboard, I do not know if there is one available. That is one of the benefits of using adb shell over an in-phone terminal.

I did alot of work to hack in the ability to be compatible with both formats, what is this 'vise versa' you speak of ;P

Version 5 would fail on the sd-ext.tar of a drellisdee backup. Tried it three times. Drellisdee was able to recover the same tested backup. Maybe it's my wacky phone. Check my latest post in your cm7 thread.

The directions for flashing are in the first post of this thread (about halfway down). You will need root access and ADB installed. If you don't have either of those, there are multiple threads showing you how to root in this forum, depending on your software version.

Try ROMTools. Be sure to read the instruction - it's easy but read them first.

I HOPE SOMEONE IS ONLINE AND CAN HELP ME WITHIN A FEW MINUTES...

I followed all the steps and I am trying to flash Xionia CWMA as a custom recovery....i completed EVERYTHING and now I am at the menu on my phone where it says

-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced

I DO NOT WANT TO CLICK THE WRONG ONE....which one do i click??

Help please...Im leaving it at this screen until someone can give me an answer...thanks!!

Congrats, you just installed XIONIA recovery. Now you can hit reboot system now and it will start up the phone normally. you're well on your way to flashing one of the great ROMs in this forum

Since you saw XIONIA CWMA recovery, then you have custom recovery. Everytime you boot into recovery, it should still remain custom recovery.
