Custom Ring/Text Tones?

Hey guys!

So I got my hands on the HTC 10 in Camelia Red... gorgeous phone and it's my first true experience with android. Updated to Nougat. So far so good.

However, apparently the solution to custom ring and text tones does not seem obvious. What's the ritual and what do i have to sacrifice to get me some custom tones that I already have prepared? Where do I place them? I thought it would be more intuitive than this.

And custom vibration patterns?

Thanks!

Mkay I suspected that. Do they need to be a specific file format? Strictly .mp3?

And will they just populate in the picker or do I need to do something else? Thanks!

Edit: Worked like a charm! Thanks!

Is there a way to assign separate notification tones for texts like you can ring tones? Ive been unable to figure this one out. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean different tones for different contacts, or just a different tone for text messages vs other notifications?

If the latter, then open your messaging app, tap Menu>Settings, and look for the notifications options. There should be an option there to change the notification tone.

Thanks for responding. I meant a different text notification tone for different contacts like different ringtones for phone calls. Even with a special ring tone all texts from all contacts use the one notification.

I think that depends on the texting app and/or the phone brand you're using. I think Samsung's stock Messaging app and Contacts app let you do this, but it's not a universal thing. You might be able to find a 3rd party app that allows you to do it, but I'm not familiar with any at this time.
