custom ringtone

myxertones.com, or go to the market and download mabilo ringtones, there are a few others, ringdroid is sweet cause u can make ringtones on the phone from music u have on your sd card

so if i was going to custom a song from my computer, my best chance is to used ringdroid? I went to myxertones.com but they didn't have the music i want. =(

ringdroid is a app for the phone..if u wanna do it from the computer use myxertones.com..just make a accont (they are free) and pick make your own..it lets u pick a song u have downloaded on your computer and customize the ringtone, like the length where u want it in the song, volume stuff like that..then it will send it to your phone for free

Easy.

First, cut the desired song to length using an audio editing software (15 to 20 seconds). Save in MP3 format.

Second, connect your phone via usb and tell the phone to "mount" by selecting from the drop down notification drawer.

Third, create a folder on the root of your micro sd card labled "ringtones", all lowercase.

Fourth, drag and drop music clip into ringtone folder.

Presto, the ringtone will show up under ringtones when you browse through them.

There are several free music editing programs for free. Just google it and pick the one you like. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

its easier to use ringdroid from the phone..less steps lol

Hey rusty, can you explain step 2. Do you mean connect my phone to the computer with usb?

After you connect your phone to the computer via USB and it makes its little jingle noise, swipe your finger from the top of the screen down to open the notification drawer.

There should be a notification labeled "USB Connected" and below that "Select to copy files to/from your computer".

After selecting this you will get a popup screen with the options "mount" and "don't mount". Select mount and you will turn on USB mass storage mode which allows you access to the SD card thought the phones USB port. This will allow you to then make the ringtone file and drag and drop your edited mp3's.

Also, I liked ringdroid when I had it cause it was convenient, but it seemed to delay the ring when I would receive a call with a ringdroid ringtone versus a custom made one. Just my observation, my just be my phone, but ringdriod is a he!! of a lot easier. Good Luck, and may the droid be with you.

You can also not install any apps on your phone and use the built in music player on the Eris. If you have the MP3 file you want to convert to a ringtone, all you do is play it, then hit menu, then hit set as ringtone. At that point you have a 3rd option to trim the song, pick out any 25 second portion of the song and set it as whatever contact you want. no need to take up more space on your memory.

no eris, then I dont know if this is prebuilt in the android music player..??

As a nanite I wanted to learn how to setup custom ringtones too. There is an app called vrecord that makes .3gpp files off the microphone and aledgedly tunrs them into rintones which I did. The problem is that it does not show up on the ringtone list. I read this thread all through and set up the rongtones folder under sdcard and put the .3gpp file there but it still doesn't show up as a ringtone. Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks
Edroid

i find "Zedge" app, it's soooooooo good. So much ringtones for free.

I just looked at my Zedge app. It doesnt give you an option to use ringtones on your SD card.. I will try ringlert... I have had it before... I just found a Ringtone I have been looking for, for a long time, Since I am ALSO a former Blackberry user, couldnt figure out how to use it as a notification.. it lets me use it as a regular ringer... but, not as a notification:eek:
