Custom ROMs and Kernels for Bionic.

So I've had my phone rooted for a while now and really love all the advantages it gives. I've gotten just about every root-required app there is. I'm not the best at the whole root thing, I understand what it is and all, but I simply followed a one click root method to get here.

So, I was wondering what the advantages to using custom ROMs and Kernels are.
Should I try to use one? Is it worth it? How hard is it? Why do most people use them?

The biggest advantage to using a custom rom and kernel is speed and battery life. Unfortunately, because of the Bionic's lock bootloader, it's not as easy to flash a custom rom on this phone as on other phones.

Honestly, if you are rooted and have all the stock VZW bloatware removed or frozen with Titanium, then you're already getting better performance and battery life.
