Cut the flap on S-View

I just picked up a used S5 with an S-View case, which doesn't work very well when one of the things I use most is Waze.
I was thinking of just cutting off the cover, to allow me to continue using the QI charger(I got the phone cheap because the USB port doesn't work, but everything else is fine on it).
Has anyone tried doing this? For some reason, the S-View QI covers are about 1/2 the price of the non-S-View QI covers.
