CWM help

Hey everyone, been awhile since i lasted posted on this site. Had a fascinate, now have a iphone, and will be switching to the galaxy nexus here shortly!

I have a few questions to ask
1. Is Rom Manager compatible with the Galaxy Nexus? It wasn't for the fascinate for awhiile so i just want to make sure

2. Is it safe to flash any ROM over a AOSP ROM? For example for the fascinate you had to Odin back from a AOSP ROM like MIUI or something if you wanted to run a TW based rom again.

I'll really appreciate the help since I will be new to the Galaxy Nexus community.

Rom manager is compatible with gal nex but it's recommended that you use clockwork mod recovery to flash and wipe instead of RM app - RM is mostly good for flashing CWM in the first place.

It's safe to flash any rom over aosp and vice versa - just make sure to wipe data, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, and format /system first and you're good to go.

Being a former fascinate owner, I can understand your trepidation with rom manager.
Every function of rm is working on this phone.

Odin is hardly used on the gn. I've seen only one Odin file posted. Every rom/kernel flash is done in cwm recovery. The official cwm is solid on this phone. Make sure you get the touch based cwm. No volume or power button presses, everything is done on the screen.

All that is done between any rom flash are data, cache and Dalvik wipes. No Odin stuff. I haven't used Odin ever on this phone.

ODIN is a good fail safe - last restort fix back to stock.

Other than that we don't use it.

Gawd on the fasc we used to Odin stuff a helluva lot. Kernels, radios etc. If you didn't have odin you were toast lol

Yeah Rom Manager was never really useful at all on the fascinate. And it makes me happy to hear that odin is rarely used on this phone. Never was a fan of odin lol. And thanks for telling me about the touch based cwm! Sounds a lot less troublesome than with the volume and power buttons.

Yea the cwm we have on this phone is awesome.
Everything just works.
Wait till you see all the custom roms and kernels there is for this phone, you might faint.
Its a boatload!
I remember you from the fascinate forums. Lots of nice ppl here too.

I was searching around earlier and liquid smooth, codeman, and aokp caught my eye right away. Yeah the fassy forums had a lot of nice people on there, good to hear that these forums are no different!

There are so many choices. That's what makes this phone > any other phone (my opinion). The devs are awesome.
