If you haven't flashed a custom recovery yet the only other way I know of is with fastboot.exe from the Android sdk. In my opinion that's for experienced users only. Way too complicated to explain in detail here. You used to be able to do this with Rom Manager but apparently the P500 series devices are no longer supported.

OK. That's the one you want. Install it. Then reboot into recovery and follow the steps in my previous post.

Do not use Rom Manager to do anything else other than to flash the Optimus One (obb) Recovery.

OK so here's what to do
Use ROM Manager to install the Optimus One old BB recovery. Then reboot into recovery and use install zip from sd card. And select that zip and it should install. Then reboot into the system and then reboot into recovery again. You should have the nice CWM now :)

hey it worked!!! thank you so much!! :D now time to see if i can get that jelly bean:cool:

I've grown tired of having to modify updater-scripts (sometimes unscuccessfully) just to flash certain roms using cwm 6. I was wondering if anybody had a flashable zip for the p500 cwm 5.0.2.0 that allows flashing roms for any phone. I've found the .img files but I dont want to go through fastboot to downgrade. Rom manager doesn't show optimus one (old bb) at all. Using LG thrive.

I didn't care for the touch-based cwm. I tried the generic 6.0.1.0 cwm rashed upoloaded but i had to furiously tap the far left button to disable back button menu so i could actually choose an option and go through the menus. so, what i did was downgrade to cm7, got wifi and everything working using joban and arjens kernel, then installed rom manager and it finally found my phone and i reinstalled cwm 5.0.2.0 for lg optimus one (old bb). :p

i'm wondering if there is official cmw for phoenix p505 hey guys this safe using following bill.weckel method i ve find this easy way to do it thats what i think, but still looking for cmw for phoenix not for thrive i know some people having a issues with black screen arjen cwm work for both phoenix and thrive ?

There is no offical CWM for the P505 but you can use just about any of the CWMs here on the forum for the Phoenix. If you dont care about the colors just flash the one from the Optimus One (P500) old baseband from the ROM Manager.

What do you mean "blackscreen"? Is this when you try to boot into recovery? (hold home, vol+, power)

verify that recovery flashed in rom manager. if needed have it reflash it.

use bills Android Recovery Flasher to flash a recovery.

Yes if you were on stock 2.2.1 then the optimus one old bb is what you need to flash. If you upgraded to 2.3 then you have new baseband. Try messing with the volume up and down buttons when it boots to the blackscreen, Sometimes mine will take a few seconds to load the recovery. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for you otherwise.
