CWM Recovery version 4 Released

Yeah sorry didn't notice there was a flashable zip to flash recovery if you already had cwm, I've never heard of it but I'm coming from the Optimus s forums and I've never seen it over there story for the confusion.

No problem, once you have root these phones are pretty easy to deal with. Don't know if it will be as easy as the nexus but it will be close..

When i try to backup in recovery.... it gives me an "error of processing rom manager script. Please verify that you are performing the back, restore, or rom installation from rom manager v4.4.00.0 or higher."

then i click volume down to backup and just backup. Is that normal?

You cannot currently initiate a backup from the ROM Manager app. Which is good because currently the ROM Manager app can't see backups on your SD Card anyways. So for all backups and restores you have to go through the CWM interface by booting into CWM.

Appreciate the reponse. Thanks!

Why do the backups have the date wrong? For example, mine says: 1970-01-11.12.16.31

I'm guessing that 12.16.31 is the time, which is about the time I did the backup.

correction there is no external option-why is everyone is saying there is.

There is no option it automatically puts your backup on external sd.

I'm using CWM version 5.8.4.9 on a Sprint phone. When I boot into CWM and perform a backup, it stores it on the Internal SD card, not the External one. I just verified it. Is there a way to choose the external card?

Actually 5.8.4.8 defaults to the sd card (I think). You should try twrp recovery. You can choose where you store your backups.

It is an issue with every recovery for this phone so far. Eventually it will get straightened out. Even non cwm recoveries such as twrp have the date glitch.

can i do it this way

Upgrade Only - Using CWM Recovery to Upgrade CWM Recovery
Use this method if you already have a previous version of CWM and would like to upgrade. This is a CWM Recovery flashable zip, currently only supported for Sprint SGS3 devices.

if i have the CWM Touch recovery

PM sent... I would not do it that way. First off you will have to pay for it and the version it updates you to, doesn't support external sdcards. I would also uninstall Rom manager. I have seen to many phones borked because of it.
