Can anybody explain what the point of this is on an unlocked Motorola phone? They're already close to stock OS and are quite speedy. I ask because I read about this today and thought of my Moto E 2, but I can't see a good reason why I'd do this. If one doesn't want to root the device or apply crazy themes... performance wise, is there any point?

I can respect that. A good number of devices do carry snapshot builds.
