So i am pretty new to this whole rooting/custom rom deal.. But cyanogen finally updated their wiki with a install guide for the thunderbolt. Anyone try this out yet?

Perfect Storm 1.0 looks nice as well. Not sure which one to choose!

As a side question.. Anyone know if these custom roms enable me to just turn off the 4g radio? With #*#46464#*# it seems i can only select...evdo only..cdma only or cdma auto.. Can i do cdma + evdo (auto)?

i think they just added the root / install instructions... i did not see a download (nothing was on the list)

not sure with your 2nd question...

They have a place setter link for Cm7 but its not out yet. Its pretty much pre-nightly or beta right now. I heard they have build#4 but nothing you want to use works. Phone/data/sms/ all that stuff. I think There just getting the quirks out first and then adding the features you like to use.

Protekk, who was in charge of CM7 on the Inc and Bolt has backed out from it due to personal issues. MrBobBrowitz is trying to step in and continue what he started but this is still a huge step back. So we are not as close to CM7 as we were yesterday.

Might want to double check that info.

Is the one that is working on the TBolt and Inc.
MrBobBrowitz and Protekk are only compiling their own nightlies. ;)

Hopefully they can get lte 4g on aosp working faster then wimax took for the evo. Reverse engineering isn't easy.

Cyanogen tweeted a while back that the qualcom lte code was released so working lte shouldn't be an issue.

Pretty sure we won't see a legit cm7 build till htc releases the kernal source though.

yeah and that wont be for a long time. read something about 120 days now.

I read that article about HTC violating the GPL on previous phones. I guess it's time to fire up the bar-b-que and let them know a violation will be called out on.

I "request support" for this 2 times a day :)

I always get the 90-120 days answer everytime though :(

Man here's hoping this happen's ASAP. I've had a taste of GB on my Fascinate with Kaoscinate v5, which was mostly awesome. I was also running CM7 on my Droid, and it was amazing. I actually like Sense 2.1, in fact I just flashed the basic debloated rom on my Thunderbolt to replace VirusROM, but I would give all of Sense up for pure GB.

On another note, saw a video of the new Moto GB ROM for DX/D2, and it looks miiiighty nice. I love the screen rotation animations they've added. I just wonder if it does the screen off animation a-la AOSP 2.3.

Saw a post today on XDA saying the kernel has been released..

Anyone have past experience that can give a possible guesstimate-release-date for CM 7? :)

I would prefer a solid working ROM over a bricked phone so it takes time and we will have to wait. Since the phone hasn't been out two weeks yet we are doing pretty well so far.

Yeah would love to rock CM on my phone (have loved it since my friend let me play with his EVO after he flashed it), but I am going to hold off on rooting and the whole deal till there is a stable fully functional build... we are talking LTE and the whole deal, then its rooting/flashing time.

I just love this phone and would not want to miss out on something because my ROM didn't have it integrated in yet.

THIS.

What they are trying to do, in the words of Michio Kaku, is like learning how a piano works by throwing it down a flight of stairs and listening to all the tinkling sounds it makes. You infer and you break things and you learn little by little. It is a very iterative, tentative process that can be frighteningly quick or maddeningly slow, but never boring.

We also need to remember that they just put out RC4 for CM7. I wouldn't expect to see it on our TB's until after it goes final for CM7, at the earliest.
