can anyone give a good comparison of if i should go a head and download cyanogenmod or wait until if/when ICS comes to the note. thanks for the advice.

I'd say just make a backup and try it yourself. I used Cyanogenmod on my old phone (HTC Inspire 4G) and loved it then but grew tired of it after awhile (I kinda prefer Touchwiz or using Apex Launcher). Ya just gotta experience it for yourself and see how it is, I enjoyed it with all of the tweaks in the notification bar and some other things.

Do a nandroid backup after installing Clockworkmod Recovery and try the ROM's out. I've run a bunch of them but I always seem to settle on CyanogenMod. I just love the way it's done. I run CM9 on my Acer A100 tablet too.

Thanks, i ran cyanogen mod on my HTC inspire also. kind of why i was debating weather or not to go back to it or not. it just seemed very stable.

CM9 which is available for the GNote is based on ICS. I would recommend you go over to XDA and read through the last few pages on the GNote CM9 pre-release. I have had all of the CM 9 pre-release updates on my GNote and the author of the ROM has put in days upon days of work on it - but it still has issues. If you go and read the last say, 20 pages on the forum there, you will get an idea what folks are reporting as stuggles in release 6.

I have had the problem of getting sound to the phones rear speaker. In addition it's been difficult to get S Voice working with it and I need S Voice or Voice Talk in my car here in the North East with our hands free laws.
