Convince me to use my promo code and get an X.
Currently have a G2 running a custom rom. Battery life is nothing short of spectacular. I managed to snag one of the cyber Monday promo codes for the X, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to use the upgrade for it. Not totally convinced it's an upgrade from my G2. Looking for input from those of you who own the X or switched from the G2 to an X. Thanks.

FYI, I accidentally wrote too much off topic. My answer to your original question is the last paragraph in here.
The X will never lag like the G2 occasionally does, but you will definitely miss the G2's battery if you often get near the end of it's life at the end of the day.
The X has a much, much louder speaker than the G2. The G2 and Nexus 5 were some of the worst phone speakers I've ever had.
The X's build quality is on a whole 'nother level vs. the G2
The X will get official stock Lollipop updates when they come out while the G2 won't.
I really liked the G2 when I had it, but it was an appliance. The only phones I have ever truly become attached to were the RAZR V3 back in the day and my HTC M7/M8 phones I had. If I'm being completely honest, I've yet to love my X as much as I did my M8. If you are going with pure Android this time around, get an X or Nexus 6. You'll keep getting updates for a long time and Moto phones tend to be built to last. If you want a phone with a skinned version of Android that you can truly love everything about, go check out the HTC M8 in store and get a good feel for it. Wait for whatever replaces it in March 2015 if you can. My M8 on KitKat/Dalvik was smoother than my X on Lollipop/ART. HTC makes some really amazing phones these days.
I think I've moved away from the original question a little bit at this point, but if you don't have a serious desire to have an official version of Lollipop that will receive updates, or an amoled display, or a frame with build quality that doesn't feel flimsy, or the Moto Display regarding notifications, don't get a Moto X. A G2 with a Lollipop ROM will essentially feel like the same phone to you, but with a bigger battery.
