SetCPU is only letting me set the settings at 600 mhz max... is this because of cynogen because i was running 1ghz before i installed the rom or did i do something else wrong?

the overclock kernel isnt built in so you need to download one from rom manager to get those higher speeds

Correct, Koush made the default kernel 600 cause some where having boot loop issues.
So you start off at 600 and pick a kernel that works with your phone.

Granted when you go into Rom Manager you have to hit Menu>Settings>Advanced Mode to get to the bekit kernels.
