Did Essential every release the headphone DAC that goes on the accessory port as pictured partway down this page? -https://www.essential.com/audio

I can't seem to find any more about it...I guess they killed it when sales were poor.

The USB audio adapter (which probably uses the same DAC chip) is the only thing available, (And for $15, it's not a bad price.)

Guess the only reason to get the dac accessory is to save your usbc port? Not worth it if you ask me.

No, the new DAC accessory uses a DAC that provides higher quality sound. Granted, reports I've heard (it seems like from some here, as well) is that you can get great quality sound by getting the dongle for the Razer Phone ($20). It will be interesting to see how the sound from the new DAC accessory compares to the Razer dongle.

Yeah, the available Essential USB audio adapter is just that, an adapter. It has no DAC functionality. The Razer one looks interesting...I'll wait to see the cost of the Essential DAC accessory first.

I doubt they sell many at that price. the price will most likely come down just like the 360 camera.

I love how it's sold out already. If you think they made more than like 20 of these things you're out of your mind. I doubt they ever come back in stock. they just wanted to show they weren't full of it

Just proves "proof of concept" for the device.

Huge win for the company. They have already made some losses back, and are getting back to the essential-2.

The software dept never missed a minute to date.

That's one hell of a start up.

I'm definitely interested in the DAC, but will wait for full reviews of it to come out before I'll seriously consider.

I'm probably going to wait on this, supply not withstanding. I don't have a burning need and it may go the way of the camera, being a fraction of the original price before too long.

I'm starting to think we may not see huge discounts on this, like we did the camera. I'm thinking this because they seem to manufacturing very limited quantities -- since it has sold out almost immediately (same day it went on sale) twice now.

Maybe. Either way, $150 is a lot for a DAC that can only be used on this model phone. It'd be different if it connected via non-proprietary methods.

Exactly. The PH1 has been a great product (for me), I love this device...but thats too much for an optional feature from a company with a future that is clear as mud.
