Dalvik cache before Factory reset.!

If you are experiencing some lag with your phone and you are about to do a factory reset, wait and try to clear your Dalvik cache first to see if it helps.

From recovery mod! which is from phone power off position (Volume Up + Home button + power button)

look for dalivk cache and clear it and clear your general cache as well.

your phone will restart and show (Android is upgrading)

wait for it until its done and check to see if your issue is resolved.

It is always best to try and clear caches before factory resetting, of course if you really messed something up or your device is way out of sorts, a factory reset may be the best option.
