Damn.. 1 Day and My 16 Gb Nexus-7 is Gone..

I heavily debated over the 16 GB vs the 32 GB and decided to go with the former. I don't watch many movies or TV shows and most of my music is streamed over Google Play. Sure it's "only" $40, but that's $40 I can spend elsewhere.

Exactly, this essentially the exact same debate went round-and-round the forums last year when the original N7 came out only it was 8GB vs 16GB... I chose the 8GB and if I pick up one of the new N7s it will most likely be a 16GB version for the same reasons. And honestly I still have not had a single regret in choosing i the 8 over the 16 or the later 32. It's still going strong and honestly I am still not quite convinced that I even need to upgrade to a new one just yet. I love my N7.

RichardRight Says: Oh to be one for whom a $40 price difference is no big deal...
Chadthebuilder Says: Same here. I just could not justify the $40 price increase for it. I ordered the 16, and it should be plenty for me.

We all have our needs... some.. Much Greater than others.. :-)
Stores & Outlets seem to be selling out of the 32 Gb units and have stock on the 16 Gb's... I don't know what that says about the buying public at large and how they look at the $40.00 difference to Double you storage capabilities..
I also look at the Resale Value of what I purchase as well... And ask myself, would I want the Base Model or maybe the Mid-Range Model..
The LTE version of the Nexus-7 2013 has an asking price of $349.00.. That unit is beyond my limit... Can I use that $40.00 I paid Walmart for something else? of course.. but I felt the upgrade was well worth the cost for me.. I don't buy tablets everyday.. and if I am going to spend over $230.00 dollars on one and NOT be 100% satisfied. it makes no sense to not spend $40.00 more and BE 100% satisfied.. I've already Unlocked my Bootloader, installed a Custom Recovery and Rooted my Nexus-7 2013.. I've backed up the original image, the stock image with all my apps installed and the ROM image of my Rooted Deodexed Custom ROM.. that alone has eaten up almost 5 Gb's of space.. If I still had the Base Model Nexus-7 I would be down to a little over 5 Gb's left in just 48 hours of owning the unit.. I would be shaking in my boots if that were the case.. As it stands now, I still have well over 20 Gb's free and clear.. for me, it's a No Brainer.. I made the right move by Upgrading to the Mid-Range Model.

well said. I hope nobody who's lamenting spending just $40 smokes, or drinks, or even buys coffee at work regularly (I'm not asking, we all know some will).
I spend (waste) anywhere from $60-120 / month on coffee. Doubling storage on a tablet I'll keep for at least a year for $40 is a joke. Le me see if I have this right: "the extra $40 will bust my budget. However I CAN spend $240 on what's basically a leisure gadget! yeah baby!"
c'mon... lol

Bingo.
You have $229.00 + Tax ( And maybe shipping cost ) but you can't justify $40.00 more to DOUBLE your storage??
Over a year that's what? $3.33 a month or 11 cents a day.. to know you are not going to get backed into a corner for internal storage.. I'm starting to think the one's that are so defensive are the one's that purchased from Google and have to go through hell to return theirs and wait for a 32 Gb.. Brick & Mortar wherever possible is the way to go.. It took me less than 10 minutes to upgrade from the base model to the 32 Gb.. And its nicer to have a little extra storage than worrying if someday, you are not going to have enough..

Why keep arguing your point? Sure, 32 gigs of space is fine, but maybe I don't need, or never will use that extra storage. I don't keep music on my device, I rarely use my tablet to take pictures, and I don't use extreme numbers of apps. My old tab had 8 gigs of space, and I took pictures, installed games, had music, and yet I never had a storage issue. If 32 gigs is what you need, then by all means, get a 32 gig. But please stop acting like everyone who buys a 16 gig is not thinking straight.

If you never use the extra storage, it's a waste even if it only costs $5.
If you need the extra storage, it's well worth the extra $40 it costs you.

$40-$5 = $35 = the price of a Chromecast :D :D

Argue?
This is a forum of "Discussion"... Pros & Cons... :-)
You stop where YOUR wallet tells you to stop..
That's why they make a *Basic* - *Mid - Range* and the soon to be released *High - End* Nexus-7...
I'm sorry if your conscience is talking to you..... but no one here was directing anything towards you or anyone else that decided the Base Model was the choice for them.
There are just those of us that commented in this thread that feel like, why stop short of the finish line when the difference is only $40.00.. There will be those that feel, "Why stop at $269.00? when you can spend just $90.00 more and get the High - End LTE Model.. Then you can use your Tablet everywhere and do everything you do at home.. at high speeds!"

See.. that's where I draw my line.. I'm not spending $90.00 more for connectivity away from home.. the Mid - Range model works just right for ME.. ( And several others )
And the Base Model works just right for YOU.

See?
We're all happy!

Considering the price difference I don't see the 16gig selling much. Every store I went to had the 16 and were sold out of the 32. My local best buy sold 50 of them and they were never even on display.
Brettxw says:Ya, tomorrow I am going to return mine and pick up the 32 gig one.

So Brettxw,
Feel a little better vested with the extra storage? :-)
