I guess it's natural that when things prove to be popular, they are often reproduced and copied, becoming standard features, but it can certainly make life more complicated...

When the DX was released originally, I didn't have a smartphone but was drawn to the big screen because I thought it would actually make browsing from a phone and reading emails much more functional and practical than before. It's the main reason I stayed away from smartphones.

When the DX came out, there were only 2 phones with a 4.3 " screen--if I am wrong, please advise. The Droid X on Verizon and the Evo 4G on Sprint. I decided to choose based on network quality and decided on Verizon ahead of Sprint.

Now, a year after release, the DX still sports the biggest screen on Big Red, sharing honors with the DX2. However, the DX2 was always a non-issue for me since it's a great phone but not worth locking into an upgrade when I still have a great functioning original.

Fast forward to today when I finally became due for my last :( annual upgrade. Now it seems like every phone (Charge, Bionic, SGII Function) is getting a 4.3 " screen (pentile, penile, super amoled etc.) it makes choices that much more difficult.

How many other people decided at the time on the Droid X in large part due to the size of the screen?

I was really hoping the Bionic would have 4.5 " or higher to set it apart, but it looks like that isn't the case.

I may still choose a Moto device because they are the only ones that seem to realize the importance of internal storage. I lovr having 8 GB of internal storage and never need to worry if I need to move an app over to my SD card to free up room.

I wish Samsung would consider uping the internal storage for their devices---the Charge looks nice but 2 GB of internal storage is a joke.

I too chose my DX for its massive screen size, I bought it used (mint) from a friend for $150 as an upgrade to my OG Droid 1. I've had it for a couple months now and got tired of gingerbread, and just recently rooted and installed Froyo based Apex 1.4.1 (iirc). It just got world's better. I will now likely keep this thing till it explodes, cracks or dies.

You could swap out that 2gb card for bigger, for me to charge shape is deal breaker. I was looking into the bionic but with a rumored price of 300$ ill just keep my. X, save some money and get the tab10. 1

I was referring to the internal memory in the phone itself, but to be fair, it looks like the Samsung SG II will have 16 GB at least with the ability to accommodate an SD card, assuming the specs don't change dramatically for the US release.

The large screen certainly was a factor in my decision to go with the X vs the D2G. There is no 4G yet where I live and play so the major factor to get a Thunderbolt did not and will not apply to me for at least another year. Other than that, I didn't like Sense the last time I tried an HTC device, and I will not buy a Samsung regardless of how good it may be.

I bought my Droid X after I lost my Blackberry last summer. At the time, it was the newest Android phone available for Verizon. Ideally, I would have waited for the Fascinate b/c I was a little timid about the size of the X, but losing the blackberry was the best thing that could've happened.

Once I got used to the X, I realized I couldn't go back to smaller screens (probably would be ok with 4.0 inch screen, but no smaller). Now, with the big screensize, I even use my X as a pretty functional eReader.
