Damn you Apple!

My tablet is purely for entertainment and fun. I like to be able to customize it and add widgets and wallpapers or a new launcher or even root and rom it. Android fits that. My phone just needs to work. It can be boring and utilitarian as long as it is rock solid and completely useful and reliable when I really need it. iOS fits that. I will say that, if I needed a tablet at work, I'd buy an Air.

Makes perfect sense.

Maybe I should consider a bigger android tablet later on. My nexus is great for reading but I do plan to pick up an e-reader. Then a 8 or 10 inch android tablet might be perfect for messing around.

I do agree with you about the phone, I don't mess with that. My iPhone is very dependable and I haven't had to change or configure much since my 3GS thanks to iCloud.

Tapatalking from my awesome iPhone 5 or very comfy Nexus 7

I am coming from a seven inch tablet and the 8.3 is a lot easier on my eyes. Of course I am also coming from a first gen kindle fire so the resolution of the LG is much better too. It might not be as noticeable going from a Nexus to an eight plus inch tablet unless you got to a ten or so inch. But 10 is getting too big for my uses. The LG is still light and small enough for me to one hand even when reading in bed at night.

I am really loving this LG all around but, again, if I was going from a Nexus Seven inch instead of an old fire, it might not be much different.

I have both a nexus 7 and TWO gpads and the difference is immense. When the nexus was the only game in town it was great. Now i hardly use it. The gpad real estate -- 8.3 vs. 7 -- makes all the difference. Plus the lg skin is great. I have 2 because i jumped in on the quiet newegg deal of $175 for the gpad and got the first for $299 from bb. My wife has the 8 inch samsung tablet, got the staples $229 deal, which is also pretty impressive despite lower specs.

Soooooo how is the iPad mini working out for those that got it instead. I got the lg g pad this week but I am still on the fence. Battery life so far has been meh and there is a bit of lag but no other decent android tablets in this size ( until the new Samsung is released )

No regrets with the Mini. No lag, amazing display, perfect size, wide variety of cases, tablet optimized App store. Best of all words, N5 for phone, iPad for tablet.

I just exchanged my mini for the gpad. I really liked it but I have over 200$ on Google play credit lol. Plus best buy had it on sale again for 299 so thats an extra 100$ back in my pocket.

So far I'm really digging the gpad

When you have had it a little longer do you mind comparing battery life? One of my biggest g pad problems is while I use it ( just browsing) the battery drops like flies. Glad you're enjoying it!!

I will do. Yeah mini battery life was impressive. I streamed 3 movies via Netflix to chromecast one lonely day and battery only dropped 3 percent.

As of typing this for the last 20 minutes of being on my battery is at 96 with only watching one you tube clip and checking droid life and here. Amost positive mini will win in battery life but once I have it for a week I'll report back.

Install Greenify and Betterbatterystats to see what's consuming your battery. While I admit the battery is not the best I have seen across various devices, it should not be dropping considerably either as you mentioned. I can browse for serveral hours and only drop a few percentages. It's the gaming that drains mine. Even then it's not that bad.

I went from a Galaxy Nexus (that bricked) to an iPhone. I probably won't go back to an Android phone but as I mentioned earlier the Nexus 7 is a sweet alternative to the mini. My wife has a mini and I've played with it but I still like the N7. Mostly it's a price issue. For less than $300 I got 2x the storage and from what I can tell no appreciable difference in display quality.

I have had my g pad for about a month now. I am still loving it. Played around with a couple of custom roms but went back to stock with apex launcher. Apex is smooth as butter but I still get almost everything that comes stock...which I love. I use the LG a lot more than I did my seven inch tablet. Just a lot more enjoyable to use for me.

I still really like my Iphone but still have no desire for an Apple tablet. In fact if lg comes out with a g3 I like, I might think about a switch altogether to android. We will see.

Thanks for the tablet talk. I ended up getting the mini retina after a few weeks with the g pad and am really enjoying it. Got it for 325 with an open box sale!!

I also went to BB to get an LG G Pad 8.3. I wasn't tempted by the iPad. I already gave one up for my Nexus 7. My mind was changed when I played with the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. By itself the G Pad is great, but in comparison the Tab Pro just plain beats it.

I have never used Apex. Do you know in what ways it differs from Nova? Thanks

Just traded for a g pad. So far I like it a lot. My friend has already put kit Kat on here and it's very smooth. Only had it for a day so don't know on the battery life so far but I don't tally need a huge amount since I just use it for a few hours at night. I think it's going to work great for me. I have an iPhone 5s and would probably like a mini just as well but I do like both android and iOS. This is a good way for me to have the best if both worlds iPhone work better for me for phone wise and I still get to tweak and try out all kinds of things with this.
