Does anyone know why the background in pictures I take of people and things is dark? This wasn't how it was, it started doing this a week or so ago. It's being taken in slight lowlight I don't think it does it in daylight.

Check your settings. For some reason on my phone the camera settings have a way of changing without myself making the changes.

That looks like you used flash in a dark environment. If so, of course the background will be black.

Check your metering mode, maybe it's set to spot metering, try matrix or center weighed. The one you took outside in the sun doesn't look too out of the ordinary, smart phones have really small sensor and when the sun cast such a strong shadow it doesn't have enough dynamic range to make everything look exposed properly.

Yes I was in a room with the lights on. I tried all the metering modes. I think it started doing this July 3rd
