Absolutely right.I think battery life is a big consideration, dark mode will use less battery since it lights up less pixels.
Your use will have a large part also, I do permanent night shift and sitting in a dark place the display is really hard on my eyes with all that white! Having dark mode calms that somewhat, and also doesn't destroy my night vision as much... But it's nice to have the option to choose.
Before dark mode, I used to reverse the colours (negativ colours) to ease the burden on my retina.

The boot screen is dark.... and it's the most soothing, relaxing phone now that I've ever turned on.....in any situation light or dark. As soon as I installed the OTA I just restarted 3 times, went into display settings, and turned on dark mode and instantly everything went dark including the boot screen. It's beautiful man :O :-D;-)
This^^^I like dark mode, but it's not a deal-breaker. I can take it or leave it.
The thing I most appreciate, by far, is the start up screen no longer accosting my eyes. Not that I restart often, but I always hated that at night.
Yeah I heard it was going to get it .I just discovered the mobile Microsoft Outlook email app also has dark mode too...very cool.
