So about a week ago my DX started putting this dark grey almost black spot on all my pictures in the same spot. Yes, I have checked to make sure the glass where the camera is at is clean and everything looks fine, it only shows up on the screen when using the camera and camcorder and is more noticeable when there is a light colored background but is VERY annoying. It is always in the exact same spot every time. Anyone ever seen anything like this?
I'm trying to avoid a factory reset, but is that something you think might correct it???

Is the spot there when viewed with a different device? (ie sent to another phone or computer)

Try another camera app to see if the problem is software or hardware related. If it doesn't show up in the others, it's software and a work around would be to use the other options instead of the default camera (currently using Vignette here).

If the dot shows up in the others, it's likely a hardware thing that settings or an app won't be able to fix and you may want to consider a warranty swap.

Yeah, show's up in Vignette as well. The crappy thing is that I don't have a Verizon store in my town so I bought from Radio Shack (authorized retailer). Well, I have only had the phone for three weeks and am out of town in CA so I went to the Verizon store here to be told that I would have to go back to the Radio Shack I purchased it from so I called Radio Shack and was told that they will not exchange it for a new one because I have already sent my rebate in and obviously don't have the UPC on the box anymore. They told me sorry and they would not budge on it. I contacted Verizon CSR who was very nice and even called Radio Shack to argue with the guy. Verizon said that their system won't let them do a exchange for a new phone with the worry free guarantee even though I'm within 30 days because it wasn't purchased from their inventory. Was told three times on three different calls that there is not way to over ride it. So, is a "certified like new" replacement going to be ok or should I wait till Wednesday and try and deal with this manager over the phone? My thing is if I just call Verizon they will overnight me a certified like new replacement that I will get Wednesday morning here in CA...

That's a tough situation that will kind of be up to you. If you'd prefer a new phone, then how badly do you need to use the camera? Is your phone affected in any other way besides the dot on the camera? If the camera is not a priority right now and you'd prefer a new phone, then attempt to deal with the manager over the phone. I've received "certified like new" devices in the past and they've been fine for the most part. The only problems I had were with Blackberry Storms, but they were crap from the beginning, so I don't count it.

Yeah, I do use the camera quite a bit. I actually just ended up calling tech support and getting a certified like new device which I will get Wednesday morning. I must say, after dealing with the a$$holes at radio shack, I really am impressed with the customer service at Verizon. They always make me feel good about calling them, even when it ultimately doesn't go my way.

I have a spot on mine, too, quite similar, but more faint. I generally can see in only against a blue sky, or a very light background.

Since I discovered it, I've actually been taking outdoor pictures upside down to hide it. I haven't tried taking it back to Verizon, but after seeing your comments, I may just try that.
