Anyone experienced video playback (say off facebook) where the screen auto brightness goes nearly dark while playing, then back to normal once played? Any ideas to fix this?

Have you tried turning up the brightness while it's playing? I believe it has a memory of the last brightness setting during video play.
Run your finger up the left side of the video while playing, that should up the brightness, then the next time you play a video it should go to that brightness again.

What he said, you just need to adjust your video player settings. They are separate from the regular phone settings.
