Darker 'translucent' Lines When I Change Brightness On My Galaxy S7 Edge

Hi all,

so I have been desperately trying to look EVERYWHERE on the internet about my problem and I have had zero luck, so hopefully someone on here can lead me in the right direction.

At the more towards end of April I bought a Galaxy S7 Edge, I was really excited about it sense I have been an avid iPhone user and I wasn't happy at all w/ my iPhone 6 Plus. (I digress) Everything was working perfectly... until about 2 weeks ago.

As I was using my Facebook app, my phone froze for only 3 seconds (first time the phone even froze at all on me) and then right after that I saw I had these thick, dark, 'translucent' lines across my phone screen and it only works when I have the phone turned on full brightness and they only show up when I'm trying to change the brightness setting.

Side note: I HATE having my phone on full brightness (O_O like holy shet I'm blind yo).

I thought it was odd so I rebooted the phone, and they were still there, I started to panic a bit as it was a new phone but I was way past the 15 return policy.

So basically my question is: Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you have to do? Where you able to fix it yourself or did you have to take it in to your mobile phone carrier's store? Or did you have to talk to Samsung?

ANY info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you :)

I have same problem with Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge!
My Wife also have same problem with her Samsung Galaxy S 7 Edge!

Restored my Galaxy S7 twice still didn't change didn't want pay a $175.00 so I gave up and put it on automatic brightness and left it then I noticed little lines went away on their own.

I make this account for the same reason!
I have a Moto Z Force and i have the same issue.... only that the lines appear in every range of brightness, makin the lines darker/brighter bigger or smaller.
Im in Argentina, so replace the unit its not an opcion for me, so i guees i will send the phone to a technician to teardown and change the chip, im
condemned. (i would love the lines dissapear magicaly like it happend to some people here)
Sory for my english...

Hi. I bought my phone in April and having the same issues of Translucent dark lines on my phone from December onwards. Now my daughter's phone is having the same issues as well. In fact her phone went a step further and after the lines showed dark green lines and then went dead.
I loved my Android but looks like this whole April batch has some manufacturing defects. I can see that most of you had bought their handsets in April only. :-[

Call samsung, tell them about the issue, and get it repaired. I believe this is a really annoying issue with the S7 / S7e, happens to a lot of ppl, unfortunately its an issue with their LCDs.

I've just got the same thing happening!.. did you get any answers?!

I share the same sentiment with you guys. I have these four grey lines on my screen as well, which is so disappointing knowing the fact that it's the flagship phone coming from Samsung. Had it checked through Samsung service center and they said its a hardware problem, unfortunately my warranty got voided because my unit had dents on it due to some falls and that doesn't qualify me for a warranty service which means I have to shoulder the expenses for the LCD replacement and it's some serious amount I must say. What, now I have to pay for something that has something to do with a factory defect? As if it's my fault. So disappointing really.

Hello Samsung, are you reading to all of these concerns? We need answers ASAP on how are you gonna handle this.

I have the same problem which recently developed on my dual sim that I bought back in June. After reading a post that said plugging it in for 15 hours solved the problem. I plugged my own in and immediately the lines disappeared. I then went to the drop down menu and disabled power saving. Immediately the problem was solved after I unplugged the phone. So far this has solved my problem with the translucent lines.

I got my 7 edge June 2016. Had it for about a month when the lines appeared. Read about this problem others was having. Was about to take it in when they disappeared. Now 5 months later they are back. I don't have Facebook so I don't think that's the problem. Am heading to Verizon to see what the deal is. Will post what I find out.

Hello all..
I am also experiencing this issue. Started today. I have taken a screenshot which shows the dark lines. Anyone found a fix for this?

Is there a way to trigger the lines to appear?, had my s7 since May and they appeared in late June, had the phone with the lines for a while and then back in October they disappeared and haven't made a comeback ever since.

I called Samsung and they advised to do a factory reset and back data up, but seeing as the cloud is still not fixed, you have to back up data by smart switch on the PC. So did this, and then did a factory reset, it didn't work. I decided to give this in the next day to get it fixed and somehow the lines have disappeared! I have no idea what the initial fix was! But I'm guessing a factory reset? If it happens again, it will go in. Not impressed by Samsung at all :-

It's to do with the panel of the phone or something. I had dark grey little lines which made the phone blurry on my S3 but this was due to the phone just dying.

Wow, and I thought I was the only one who had this issue last month. I posted my own thread under here about it and now I come across this. Seems like it is all the same exact issue, which is not good for Samsung. Thick black lines that go away when on full brightness. I went to my local at&t store and got it replaced. New S7 edge is perfect now. Here is what mine looked like below. I fear this may happen again!
