I do it all the time on phones I pick up if I'm slightly distracted I'll double tap then realize it's not my M8 or my fiances G3

I don't use Knock Code, but I do occasionally look up at the top of a physical book for the time (which isn't there), or long press a word to look up the definition, again not finding it on a physical book.

Darn you, Kindle app. :/
