Right I've had my G2 now for about 3 months and trying to connect to the internet on 3G is driving me mad. Sometimes it's fine but I am finding that most of the time, internet pages will not open even though my phone shows a strong 3G signal. It's not a fault with the browser as the same happens on all of them.

I have done a factory reset and the problem still persists. Carphone warehouse have advised me to change SIM cards in case I have a faulty SIM. Before I do this, could it really be anything to do with the SIM card??

Has anybody else had this problem with their G2? Is there a fix for it? I love everything else about the phone but this issue is making the phone un-usable.

I'd first try another phone from the same carrier right next to you when you encounter the issue. If the other device has the same problem, then you know it's a network issue, but if the other phone is fine, then it's a problem with either your SIM or your unit. If this happens, you could try swapping SIM cards with the other phone and see if yours is now faster and the other one is not; if your phone continues to exhibit slow loading times after the SIM swap, then it's an issue with your phone. If this is the case, don't wait, just get it replaced. It's a brand new phone, you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get it to work properly and you still have that Warranty to cover you. (Unless this phone is not new and you just got it used for 2 months).

My wife has an S4 and on the same network. We can be in the same place and she can get online and I can't so I don't believe it's the network. I have been given a new SIM card by the phone shop but havn't tried changing it yet. I'm a bit sceptical as to how it can be a SIM card issue but if you think it's worth doing I will change it. Re the warranty, I got the phone new from carphone warehouse 3 months ago but im not sure how long the warranty is. Hopefully it is 1 year but even if it is, what will happen is that they will send it off for repair first rather than give me a new phone.

It's usually 1 year, but if it's hardware related, then you've got no choice. What I mean by replacing the SIM was to check with another customer's account. I don't think the SIM itself is the issue, I wanted you to test if your account was (maybe something with how the carrier configured your account, or if it's being throttled for some reasong). In your case, the test would be to swap SIM cards with your wife and see if the problem is transferred to her phone or if you still have issues navigating on yours.

I have contacted LG and they have said I have to send the phone in for repair. Can't have a replacement. The phone is 3 months old.

:( Ask them if they at least can give you a loaner phone. Sometimes they'll do that.

I have but they have said no. I can use my Note 2 but will have to take the SIM out of the G2 to put in it to be able to use it. I'm not sure if they will need the SIM leaving in the LG. I have advised them that I will be removing it and they haven't mentioned anything about that in their reply to me so I'm assuming its ok.

I'm not holding my breath about them fixing the fault to be honest. Because it's an intermittent problem, there may not appear to be a fault when testing it. I have not noticed this issue when I have been in 4G area's. Internet pages always open quickly with no issues. Only when I am in normal 3G area's does the issue arise.

They shouldn't need your SIM card, and you should NEVER leave your SIM card on a phone when it's there for repairs. This is, after all, your line. You don't want any unknown charges or your phone line cloned by some phone expert, do you? Better paranoid than bankrupt :)

It is definitely OK. You should never, ever leave your SIM in your phone when you put it in for repairs. If the repairer wants to check the network connectivity to your particular provider to rule out a network issue, they should do it in your presence so you know exactly what they're doing. Otherwise you won't know what's being done on your account.
