DATA IS DOWN.. says an automated person..

so i had to pay my account. so i did. then i had no data. i called the 1-888 number and an automated person before i could say anything told me data would be down and i should try reconnecting in 2 hours. that was 10 minutes ago.
 
Reading this, I took my phone off Wifi, toggled airplane mode... Nothing. No 3G, no 1x.

WOOOO VIRGIN MOBILE!
 
mine went out around 7pm est time. im not complaining tho since i had a lovely chat with a virgin mobile rep who helped me switch plans. seriously off topic but VM has the best support. sorry had to get that out of my system lol
 
I don't have data but my buddy that lives 10 miles from me is on VM and he has data so it is not everybody.

Could you give us his phone number? We could all forward our calls, and he could email us with the caller ID number of anyone trying to reach us. Then we can call them back on Skype or Google Talk.

No service in Rutland VT area since around 1PM Monday.
VM Customer Service is clueless beyond the ##847446# and re-enter MDN and MSID--- and "wait four hours"

Second call at 11:00 PM the rep was unaware of the service outage announcement--"where did you hear about this?" and after explaining and re-explaining the problem-- An "x" in the service Icon, searching for service notification, can't make or receive phone calls" --he wanted to know if i was calling from my Virgin Mobile phone.

In between I managed to connect through a number for Tech Service I found here somewhere-- 877-600-8065 ( thanks whoever you are that posted this, I can't find the post again)

They couldn't figure anything out either- and said they are sending me a new phone. Which seems kind of silly if there is a major data outage, but they knew nothing about it.


Seems this is effecting different people differently ( and some not at all)-- I have web connection, market, weather and news widget updates, email notification works,-- i left a message on my VM number by Skype, and I get a voicemail notification on the phone, I can check email by callingin vis Skype, Skype calls work in and out-- So "no data" isn't exactly right-- I can use the Optimus V cell phone for everything except as a cell phone:eek:

I'm in Minnesota.

Mine was also down yesterday at some time - didn't catch what the time was. Later, I called VM about 10pm central time and while on hold, 3G started working again.
 
I was only down for about an hour and a half. Not too bad, I sure hope they actually "upgraded" something significant though. Anyone notice an internet boost?

Probably a fluke but I just did a quick speed test:

Ping: 152ms
DL: 1726kbps
UL: 464kbps
 
Your right on the money service went out around 11 for the Burlington, VT area... Virgin mobile and also Boost mobile. most of my buddies have Boost and some Virgin and no of us had service until 12 midnight or so that's when service got back up.
 
3G was no go yesterday, I thought I was the only one so I did a fresh install of aosp, but it seems to be fixed today, was it a maintenance issue?
 
I'm confused. The OP said that data was down but then I see people complaining about not having phone service because they have no 3G.

1) How does that make any sense?
2) Do outages happen often?
