Data Plan

I might as well get a 2 year plan with the tbolt then and when the time comes to where I want or need a new phone, I'll just buy it off contract and see what happens..

Likely the best course of action but beware that VZW can place restrictions on an activated phone on your current plan.

For example, they can require certain phones to have a specific data plan option. Let's say in 2012 you want the Bolt 2 (or whatever) but all VZW has to offer are tiered plans so VZW will restrict that phone to be activated only when tiered smartphone plans are available.

I was on vacation the other week and my co-worker gave me a garbage dumbphone to use over my Droid because I needed something that could make international calls without using data (my Droid uses data whenever it's on, you can't stop it w/o a specific ROM that has it like Cyanogen). Well, I tried to activate the phone through *228 and it kept getting denied. I called Verizon and they said I'd have to drop my current data plan, switch to one that was specific for the phone or none at all, then re-instate the data plan when I got back for my OG. Unfortunately, I have the $20 discount on my data so doing so would kill it off, but point being I couldn't even activate a crappy, old phone w/o changing my data plan.

Oh, I see..lol, they really know how to complicate things...oh well, whatever happens, happens. Up until now, I was planning on a one year contract but I think I'm going to do a 2 year so I can hopefully keep it unlimited for awhile longer...its only 20 months, right? "Only" haha

Sorry, I've been skulking around for some time and finally have to say something... The most recent space shuttle launch took almost as long to go as it is for VZW to officially announce the TB launch. :-X

But when it took off, it went pretty quick...

And I also stand corrected...It is devolving into multiple threads on the the same thing...lol

How much data per month is "average?" Are we talking MB or GB here?
By average i mean watching youtube, mail etc. i dont watch movies so i wouldn't download that, just worryfree normal net usage.
Can anyone give me an idea here?

I used 27Gb of data last month using Sprint WiMax. I can't imagine what that would cost in Verizon $$
