Data transfer and cases??

Right now I have a Samsung Galaxy 5. My two year contract expires soon, and I am thinking about going to the Pixel. Will I find the transition difficult? Can I transfer all of my data over? Any case recommendations? I gather the Otterbox is not available yet.
