Data vs Voice signal

The call clarity on my Droid has been good for the most part, however, there is a stretch of road on my commute where my call gets dropped every single time. I recently started streaming Pandora from my Droid via my car?s auxiliary input and lo and behold, music doesn?t skip at that particular stretch where my calls always dropped.

I understand that this could be a Data vs Voice difference where data signal is strong but voice isn?t, but am looking for some kind of an affirmation from the experts out there that this is probably what it is. I'd appreciate the feedback.

I believe Pandora buffers some of the music which could explain why it continues to play. Maybe someone can confirm this. I know it's true with other streaming type apps.

I'm not actually positive, but it is also possible that Pandora preloads the song as it's playing, like youtube does, so when you hit that spot, you may lose the data connection for a few seconds, but not enough time to outrun the buffer that Pandora has built up by that point.

EDIT: Yeah, what Cory said.

Thanks Cory, acidsamurai.. that's a possibility that I hadn't thought about. That makes much more sense than the data vs voice theory.
