Data2ext on froyo?

How can I install data2ext? Ive already read on different sites but it was too confusing. Does it really make your phone faster? Does it affect the sdcard? I have the data2ext2 zip ready to flash but dont know what to do after that. Thanks

I use data2ext4 on mine but urs should work too u just cant use a partition other than ext2 where i use ext4. I assume u have root access and a ROM that supports the use of data2ext from here on.

Partitioning ur sd card wipes it. So back it up on ur computer before continuing.

First u have to partition ur sd card with ur recovery to have a ext2 partition which will be used to fool ur phone into thinking it is part of internal memory. The size of the partition is up to u.

Second flash the data2ext2 zip and reboot. Then use Terminal Emulator and enter "su" the "$" should become a "#". Now that u have the "#" enter "data2ext --enable" u may see a list of file errors dont worry just follow the last command telling u too reboot.

Lastly when it finishes rebooting check ur memory from SETTINGS>SD CARD & PHONE STORAGE it should show at the bottum a larger amount than ur use to. Now u can restore the contents of ur sd card.

Things to remember are since the ext2 partition is acting as internal memory u dont want to move apps to sd card bc all that does is move them from the ext2 partition to the fat32 partition on the sd card.

Does it make it faster? I cant say I have seen a huge differences but I didnt do it for speed. I did it for the extra space for more apps and not to worry if a widget app is on internal memory or not. It is very possible that ur sd card is to slow for this to be helpful and could slow u down more but that not likely.
